When you make an application for accommodation you will be required to enter information about the accommodation you would prefer. You will need to enter This portfolio of information will then be used to guide us when we make you an offer of accommodation. Please note that although we will do all we can to meet your preferences we cannot guarantee that a particular room will be available when we make your allocation.


Accommodation Preferences

You will be required to state at least one Accommodation Preference, each of which will cover two categories.


1. Contract Duration Our contracts cover the Christmas, Easter and summer vacation periods.

Rooms with shared bathrooms & kitchen, minimum share with 2 – 5 others
  • Benjamin Russell Court
  • Brookside
  • Raleigh Park
  • En suite
Rooms with own en suite bathroom, share kitchen and living area
  • Canalside
  • Raleigh Park
  • The Trigon
  • Trinity Square
  • Studio
For 1 person only, kitchen, living area, bedroom and en suite in an open plan flat
  • Canalside
  • Trinity Square


  • Tracking your application

    When you have submitted an application for accommodation, you will be able to track its progress on line. To do so, you should log in and visit the “application” section, where you will be able to see your application holding one of the following states

    Status Description
    SAVED You have saved an application, which you can amend before submitting. Please note that you will need to Submit your application for it to be considered for allocation.
    SUBMITTED You have submitted an application for accommodation, which will be considered for allocation in due course.
    ALLOCATED Your application can proceed and you will have a contract available in the “contracts” section.
    REJECT Your application was cancelled by request.

    Once you have been offered accommodation, you can view the status of your offer in the “contracts” section.

    Status Description
    OFFER You have been made an offer of accommodation, which you have not yet responded to.
    AWAIT DDI You have accepted the offer and will be sending by post the Direct Debit form.
    AWAIT GUARANTOR You have completed the online booking and we will be contacting your guarantor.
    POSTED GUARANTOR Forms have been sent to your guarantor. When sent back your booking will be complete.
    ACCEPTED You have accepted your offer of accommodation and your place has been secured. You are now responsible for your room.
    REJECT You have rejected the offer of accommodation.


    Accepting an offer

    When we make you an offer of accommodation, you are given 14 days to decide whether or not you wish to accept or reject it. If you do not accept or reject your offer within the 14 days you are given, your offer of accommodation will expire and the place you have been offered will be withdrawn to another student.


    How to accept your offer

    To accept your offer of accommodation, you should log in to your account at http://www.derwentliving.com/student_living/apply_online/ and proceed to the “contracts” section. As you follow the instructions, you will be asked to provide the following;
    Derwent requires you to submit payment details for your accommodation fees as part of the acceptance process. To do so, you will need to set up either a Direct Debit or a Recurring Card Payment. Please note your first rent instalment is due on or before collecting your keys.

    To set up a Direct Debit you will need to submit details of a UK bank account. To set up a Recurring Card Payment you will need to submit details of a credit or debit card.
    If you wish to make payment for the full academic year then please deduct £125 discount.
    You will be required to make a deposit of £250 by credit or debit card to secure your room. This deposit will be refunded to you at the end of the tenancy.

    If you cannot accept your offer online

    Accepting your offer of accommodation online is a quick and easy process, but we understand that some students may not be able to use this facility due to their particular circumstances. If you feel that you will be unable to accept your offer online, please contact us to discuss your situation when you receive your offer and we will advise you on the best way to proceed.


    If a sponsor will pay your accommodation fees

    If you are a sponsored student, you may still be able to accept your offer online, depending on how your accommodation fees are to be paid.
