Students keen for trendy city living
Date: 18 September 2006STUDENTS are moving into The Trigon, Sheffield’s newest and most up-to-date apartment block for students.
Up to 361 students will be moving into The Trigon in Shoreham Street – where they will enjoy en suite “deluxe rooms,” games room, laundry facilities, Broadband and IPTV.
The development, which opens this month (Sept) still has some spaces left - and has a trendy show flat for students to see. Derwent Living is the organisation behind the major development scheme worth an estimated £12 million.
The show flat is open 10am – 4pm, says Kate Outram, management services manager for Derwent Living.
“This is a great development for students,” she says. “It is just a five to ten-minute walk from Sheffield Hallam University. It’s attracting a lot of interest from students because it’s close, brand new and has deluxe rooms.”
The state-of-the-art development features CCTV, swipe card door entry system for students and a site office for help and advice. Broadband will also be installed in each room.
Steve McDonough, Derwent Living’s commercial director, also explained there would be a 24-hour emergency repairs service and security patrols for peace of mind.
There will also be a common room with TV and games facilities. Twenty per cent of the rooms are equipped for disabled students.
The development features 361 bed spaces of three, four, five and six en suite rooms. Rooms will be fitted with en suite “pod” bathrooms – whole wet room units which are normally used in hotel buildings.
Mr McDonough said: “The scheme will provide a mix of accommodation for students. The development is really attracting interest among the student community.
“This is a very exciting project for everyone concerned. The development will help breathe new life into Sheffield city centre.”
Rooms are from £69 a week, which makes The Trigon competitively priced, says Mr McDonough.
Once complete for the September 2006 intake, The Trigon will be managed by Derwent Living, which is one of the largest and most experienced student accommodation providers in the Midlands.
Students who choose to live in the impressive new Trigon complex will not only enjoy the latest up-to-date facilities, but also all-inclusive bills for ease of living. Students signing up to “deluxe” and “gold” packages, can get Broadband, IPTV and contents insurance.
Derwent Living is a major provider of student accommodation in a number of university cities including Sheffield, Birmingham, Leicester and Derby – and it has two schemes in Coventry, says Mr McDonough. In Nottingham, Derwent Living is the city’s largest provider of student accommodation with more than 3,000 bed spaces.
“We have a reputation for providing superior, well managed accommodation for students in what are regarded as safe environments,” he added.
