To make sure that all trees in our communal spaces are healthy and safe, every five years Derwent Living carries out a survey.

This survey is due to start in the coming 12 months and will be carried out on our behalf by Places for People Landscapes.

A professional tree inspector will examine each tree to check its condition, health and what works, if any, are required to ensure that the tree continues to flourish.

If work is required it will be graded as urgent in the case of major problems or health and safety concerns or routine if the tree is in need of general maintenance. Trees that are in really bad condition may need to be removed. The survey will drive our tree maintenance programme of the coming 3-5 years.

Once the survey is completed we will agree a programme with Places for People Landscapes who will carry out any work necessary.

Works to trees with Tree Preservation Orders (TPO) attached or those in conservation areas may need approval from the Local Authority Tree Officer.

The ongoing maintenance of our trees remains at the heart of our open spaces policies and a balanced maintenance programme ensures the long term health of the trees.
