In April this year we launched a new facility to set up a direct debit online, removing the need for paper forms or lengthy telephone calls.

By using this system, we will be able to reduce the amount of customer and staff time it takes to set up a Direct Debit.

On the main website customers need to go to the Direct Debit setup page or go via Advice centre > make a payment. From there you need to click on the click to pay online link and you will be given the option to set up a Direct Debit.

In tenant's account pages, the option to set up a Direct Debit will only be shown to those customers not currently paying by Direct Debit.

The option to set one up is available from the main account page and the rent statement screen.

You will need to know your tenancy ID to create a Direct Debit, enter your full address and the amount you wish to pay (as well as the frequency).  For tenants logged in to the system, your information will automatically be entered.

The system uses https encryption so all details of the transaction are kept private. None of your bank details are visible to Derwent Living staff throughout this process.

And you will be able to amend a direct debit the same way you do now - by calling our income management team on 01332 614 900. They have access to the back end system that controls payment amounts and can make changes for customers.
