Staff at Derwent Living have donated hundreds of items to support homeless people across the city this winter.

Lisa Wheatley and Margaret Groom from the homeless support group Doorways Derby visited Derwent Living this week to collect over 300 items generously donated by staff.

The donations include clothes and shoes which will be given to homeless people and food which will go to struggling families.

Derwent Living also contributed emergency blankets, socks, torches, teabags and sugar, which will be added to ‘shoe box’ gifts for homeless people across Derby.

Gemma Trowbridge, head of housing at Derwent Living, said: “Throughout the year staff engage in lots of charitable work and support initiatives like the Macmillian coffee morning and Children in Need. For the festive period we chose local community group Doorways Derby to support the work of our colleague Veronica Susan who is a volunteer.

“We hope the donations will help support families and those who need it most this Christmas.”
