Changes to our gas servicing programme

We have changed the way we organise our servicing of gas appliances in rented properties.  Some customers may be offered a gas service appointment sooner than they expect. 

Derwent Living’s contractor Vinshire is now batching properties outside of Derby by postcode.  This will make our programme for servicing gas appliances more cost effective. 

For this round only it means that some properties will be scheduled sooner than they normally would.  Usually we contact people about 10 months after their previous service to make sure it is completed within the 12 months limit.  Meeting this target is a legal requirement and is to keep everyone safe in their home.  So for customers outside Derby we will do the service when the bulk of properties are due in their area.  We can, of course, only pull forward so that none lapse.  This means that some people will have two safety checks on their gas installations within the next 10 months.  That will happen for the coming year only.

Properties in Derby are unaffected as Vinshire is based there.  

We would like to thank customers for their co-operation with this and apologise for any inconvenience it causes.
