Over the course of 2012-2014 Derwent Living is building 650 new homes in the Midlands. In addition it has acquired a further 423 homes from other housing providers in the last year.
Samantha Veal, who heads the development team at Derwent Living, said: “We are delighted to have made the Top 50. With so many people in need of affordable housing we are determined to keep building.
“There is much less grant now available so we have taken steps to secure funding both through commercial activity and by working with funding partners.
“Although the last few years have been challenging, we have been able to deliver many new homes across our operating area and will continue to do so.”
During the last year Derwent Living was awarded the Local Authority Building Control Warranty award for Social Housing Development of the year for its scheme at Wood Street, Church Gresley. In addition, its regeneration project at Oxcroft Lane, Bolsover was included in Inside Housing’s Top 50 UK Affordable Housing Developments 2013 list.
Inside Housing’s Top 50 developing housing associations list collates information on the number of new homes being built. It includes those that have been completed in the last financial year and those that expect to be completed in 2013/14. It also gives details of pipeline projects, the types of properties being built and how development is funded.
