The shortlist follows victory for the team at the East Midlands Tenant Participation Forum back in August.
The TPAS awards are open to social housing providers, tenants and contractors to give recognition to excellent work and, vitally, to share best practice among the sector so more people benefit. The winners of each regional final are put forward for the prestigious national awards.
The Derwent Living resident scrutiny team is a skilled and dedicated group of customers who provide a ‘critical friend’ challenge, by analysing and monitoring key services. An established team, they independently lead and own the scrutiny process, driving service improvements for all customers.
The entry focuses on the impact of changes made on the back of key recommendations made by the team, as part of their in-depth reports. Their professionalism after completing a 10-week Chartered Institute of Housing qualification and their dedication in involving and representing all customers.
The awards, across ten categories, recognise both individual and collaborative initiatives that have had made a real difference to people’s lives and their wider communities, as TPAS’ chief executive, Michelle Reid, explains:
“TPAS is passionate about connecting people to achieve great communities. In this era of co-regulation it is vital that tenants and landlords work together to achieve and sustain positive change and impact on their communities. The judges have been inspired by the number of exceptional projects and initiatives across Central England which have been catalysts for delivering real change.”
The TPAS Central Awards Final is being held on 12 April 2013 in Birmingham.
