We have a vacancy for a Health and Safety Advisor based on Pride Park, Derby. This post is for 22.5 hours per week over a minimum of 3 days a week – flexibility required – and has a salary of £21,284 per annum (based on £35,000 FTE).

Derwent Living is a ‘profit for social purpose’ organisation providing affordable housing to suit a range of lifestyles. Formed in 1964, the group manages more than 20,000 properties in the Midlands, South Yorkshire and the South East.

We have a duty of care to our customers, and you’ll play a central role in this. Taking charge of shaping our Health and Safety policy, you’ll manage the entire range of Health and Safety activities across Derwent Living from input into design and build through to contract management acting as our CDM Co-ordinator. You’ll ensure that safe working practices and systems are in place and adopted across the business and that everyone is trained and fully advised of their respective obligations including our Board. In particular, you’ll ensure that we’re totally up-to-date and compliant in terms of fire safety. You’ll establish a Health and Safety Committee to monitor our corporate approach, and review procedures to ensure contractors and partners work in line with current legislation.

You’ll ideally have a recognised health & safety qualification and a background in housing or construction. You’re likely to be a experienced Health & Safety practitioner with a track record of delivery with a diverse property portfolio. Customer focused and an influential and persuasive communicator, you’ll build strong relationships from Board level to customers, promote ideas and drive engagement with Health and Safety. Your excellent interpersonal skills will ensure you command the confidence and respect of all you deal with. In return, we offer you the chance to make this highly visible role your own, and enjoy being part of a successful expanding organisation.
