Places for People is working towards a more inclusive and diverse workforce in partnership with Ixion, Positive Transformation Group and Women into Construction.

Women into Trades is a unique apprenticeship programme designed for women aged 18+ to start their career with Places for People. There are opportunities available in Derby, Edinburgh, Huntingdon, Leeds, Milton Keynes and Preston.


  • 18+ years old
  • Not in education, employment or training
  • Have little to no work experience
  • Highest qualification obtained is a Level 3
  • Proof of ID — birth certificate, driving license, Passport or a photo ID with PASS hologram
  • Must have NI number

Key dates

  • 6 December 2021 (11am-12pm) - Join an online information session: use this link to register
  • 13 December 2021 - Interviews
  • 10 January 2022 - Two-week induction programme
  • 24/25 January 2022 - Start Level 2 Property Maintenance Operative Apprenticeship with Places for People

Two-week induction programme

If you are successful in your interview, you will complete a two-week induction programme before starting your apprenticeship. This includes:

  • employability
  • health and safety
  • Construction Skills Certification Scheme test and card
  • supervised site visit
  • allowance of £60 per week and travel expenses.

Once you have completed the induction programme, you will start a Level 2 Property Maintenance Operative Apprenticeship with Places for People.
